Generations of Faith (formerly called Family Faith Development)

Our Vision
Generations of Faith embraces a vision of lifelong faith formation for our community. Here at St. Matthew's, our faith formation program is designed to educate, engage and enrich all ages. Wherever you are in your faith journey - just starting out or seasoned and still searching for God everyday - our program welcomes everyone to learn, grow and live in faith together. All are welcome!

So how exactly does Generations of Faith work?
All ages gather once a month for a learning session around a yearly theme. Children must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian. Participating households choose to attend on Saturdays 6-8pm (following the 5pm Mass) OR Sundays 11:30am-1:30pm (following the 10:30am Mass.) These sessions help participants explore, learn about and reflect deeply on the topic at hand. Materials are provided to encourage conversations at home and further learning. Our curriculum runs on a 6-year cycle covering the Liturgical Year, Scripture, Sacraments, Prayer and Spirituality, Creed, and Justice and Moral Living. While these themes are woven into each year, they get their own in-depth look once every six years. Our 2017-2018 curricular theme is Creed, and our focus is: Jesus of History, Christ of Faith. A typical session begins with a meal, prayer and opening activities to introduce the topic for the month. Then we break into groups for our deep-learning sessions. These groups are organized according to age, so that everyone can explore the same topic through age-appropriate activities, learning and discussion. We come back together as a large group to wrap up with closing activities and prayer.
