To volunteer or be considered for any of these ministries, please contact the parish office at 518-765-2805 or submit the ministry form.
Building and Grounds Committee - This ministry is planned for the Fall of 2019. It will provide advice and direction for future plans for our church building, rectory and grounds.
Collection Counter – Collection counters ensure proper stewardship of our community's gifts; these individuals work in teams of three to count the collection offerings each week. In general, each counter commits to count once a month on Sunday morning.
Finance Committee – This committee ensures proper stewardship of our community's gifts by overseeing the financial operations of the parish. Committee members are appointed for a three year term renewable once. This committee has certain canonical requirements.
Office Assistance – Keeping the parish running requires a great deal of behind the scenes work. Volunteers in this ministry provide invaluable support in the parish office, assisting with various administrative functions (mailing, recording information, etc).
Pastoral Council - The Pastoral Council assists the pastor in planning for the future of the parish. St. Matthew’s Pastoral Council consists of the pastor, eight parishioners (six adults and two youth members) and the parish trustees. The council’s mission statement states “….solicit the ideas and hopes of the community and regularly assess how our parish is living out the life and mission of the Church.” Adult members serve on the council for a period of three years, renewable once. Youth members serve for one year with the option of a second one year term.
Parish Trustee - A parish trustee is a lay person who assists the pastor in administering the secular business of the parish. Trustees advise the Pastor and serve as ex-officio members of the Finance Committee and the Pastoral Council. Trustees officially meet once a year with the Pastor to discuss parish issues. Trustees serve for a term of one year with a maximum of six one year terms. The pastor is responsible by canon law to choose the trustees.
