Confirmation
Welcome!
The sacrament of Confirmation is all about choices. When we choose to be confirmed, we choose to own the baptismal promises that - for most of us - our parents made for us when we were still in diapers. We choose to learn how to grow our faith in God. We choose to learn about our Catholic faith. We choose to claim our spiritual life journey for ourselves and for the good of the world. We choose faith! Choosing to be confirmed is an important decision. We believe teens in our parish deserve special time and space to discern what path to take as young adults and how faith fits into this path.
We are excited to begin a new year of preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation here at St. Matthew’s! Our 2025-2026 program will start the weekend of Oct 4-5, 2025 and end with the Confirmation Liturgy in the Fall of 2026. A Teen and Parent meeting held Wednesday, October 1, 7-8pm in the church social hall to provide detailed information.
Confirmation candidates will begin their journey by attending St. Matthew’s Generations of Faith, our monthly faith development program. Each month, teens (and families are invited too!) will attend either the Saturday 5:15pm Mass and 6:15pm GOF or the Sunday 9:30am Mass and 10:30am GOF, starting the first weekend of October. Teen only Sunday evening Confirmation sessions will be added to the mix in February, 2026. We invite you and your child to join us for the Teen and Parent informational meeting on Wednesday October 1, at 7pm in the St. Matthew’s social hall to learn more!
Come February 2026, we will meet for teen only prep sessions on Sunday evenings, 6:30-8:00pm, once a month. Each session is a mix of fun icebreakers and deep learning about growing our relationship with God and learning about our Catholic faith.
