Confirmation
Welcome!

Picture
The sacrament of Confirmation is all about choices. When we choose to be confirmed, we choose to own the baptismal promises that - for most of us - our parents made for us when we were still in diapers. We choose to learn how to grow our faith in God. We choose to learn about our Catholic faith. We choose to claim our spiritual life journey for ourselves and for the good of the world. We choose faith!  Choosing to be confirmed is an important decision. We believe teens in our parish deserve special time and space to discern what path to take as young adults and how faith fits into this path.

We are excited to begin a new year of preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation here at St. Matthew’s! Our 2024-2025 begins with a parent and teen meeting on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:00pm. More information will be provided at the parent meeting.

We meet for prep sessions on Sunday evenings, 6:30-8:00pm, once a month.  Each session is a mix of fun icebreakers and deep learning about growing our relationship with God and learning about our Catholic faith. As part of our program, we will meet several times during the year at 9 am Mass and then have a brief discussion afterwards with candidates and their families.

We are excited to meet your teen and help them discover the joy and compassion of their loving God! If you have any questions, please contact Chrisi Young, Pastoral Associate for Faith Development Grades 6-12 at [email protected] or 518-765-2805.

We Bring Your Love

Loving God,

Help us
to focus on what we have,
not on what is removed or changed.

Strengthen us
when we feel discouraged
or overwhelmed.

Embrace us
so that us we know your loving presence
within us and among us.

Walk with us
as we bring your love,
and carry your light,
into our world.

Amen.
- Sandra Lucas, MDiv., BCC
