Confirmation Peer Mentors - Teenagers who have already celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation continue to grow in their faith by mentoring the new confirmation candidates. The group meets each month to assist in leading small groups during the Confirmation prep sessions. They also meet for several planning meetings and activity nights.
Generations of Faith Volunteer - Our program’s success is built on the treasures of time and talent shared by volunteers. Volunteers lead or assist with: children’s deep-learning breakout sessions; hospitality, meal prep, setup; cleanup; and on and on...Learn more about Generations of Faith.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) Sponsor –RCIA is a faith journey for adults desiring to become full members of the Catholic Church through a gradual and community-centered process of prayer, faith sharing, study, and rituals. Sponsors serve as a support, witness and companion to an RCIA candidate or catechumen on their journey. This is accomplished by attending weekly RCIA meetings whenever possible which adds depth and richness to our conversation, as well as attending special liturgical rituals and events. Sponsorship also provides the opportunity to deepen your own faith and brush up on your knowledge of all things Catholic! Sponsors must be practicing Catholics who have received the sacrament of Confirmation.
Sacramental Preparation Ministry - Here at St. Matthew's, sacramental preparation is a true community ministry. Parishioners work together to support, encourage and walk with those in our community who are preparing for sacraments. Whether it's assisting at a first Communion parent/child retreat, facilitating a small group of teenagers at a monthly Confirmation prep program, sharing your experiences in Christian parenting at a gathering of parents preparing their babies for baptism, the possibilities for ministry in our many sacramental preparation programs are practically endless.
