About Our Pastor

Father Christopher DeGiovine was appointed pastor of St. Matthew’s Church in September 2014.  At the request of Father Chris, his appointment as Pastor was scheduled to coincide with the liturgical feast day of St. Matthew the Apostle which is September 21.  Father Chris, a native of Greenville, NY, was ordained in 1977.   Immediately prior to his arrival at St. Matthew’s, he was Dean of Spiritual Life and Chaplain at the College of Saint Rose.  He has also served in the diocese as a parochial vicar (associate pastor), Director of Vocations, instructor at St. Bernard’s Institute of Theology and Ministry and as chair of the Priestly Life and Ministry Council.  Father Chris brings to St. Matthew’s the gifts of a grounded spirituality, pastoral sensitivity and an inviting personality. He is recognized among his brother priests as an engaging and powerful homilist. ​
